Morning class interrupted!?!?

Had a speaker come in from Pik Pok in Wellington to talk about audio design, producing and other things.

We were lucky enough to get a demonstration and got to see him do some audio stuff.

Dogme 95 movement

What is it about: The dogme 95 movement were started by two danish directors seeking simplicity in their movies over the complicated and seemingly fake Hollywood films of the time.

Who were the directors: there was Lars Von Trier, Thomas Vinterberg later joined by Soren Kragh Jacobsen and Kristen Levring.

When did it end: 2005

Do you feel that imposed set of rules on film making would help in making a more pure film: Well. there is a really different feeling to conventional film making as things you see are actually how things are happening.

Treatment story idea:

In a grim and dusty environment downtown of a city. The camera is faced towards one side from where three figures step out from the mist. The town square is closed off with some police tape with bodies littered everywhere; a massacre. The three figures inspect the bodies before making an observation. Ane “Whomever did this is incredibly skilled. Notice these wounds? They’re all inflicted by a military grade light dagger.

Hikaru “Well whoever dispatched these soldiers must obviously have an objective. We need to catch them immediately”.

As their dialogue goes on, a rubbish bin rustles over next to them. Alarmed all swivel to the noise. Ane “Who’s there”! –Silence-

As Ane begins to step forward, with an explosive movement a hooded figure begins to flee the scene and the crew give chase. Oki (heavy) cannot fit through the gap and heads off the side and ane continue the pursuit with Hikaru.

Coming to an opening closed end, the mystery person turns around and they have a fight scene. As Hikaru and Ane are panting Ane”Who are you. We’re going to need to bring you in, please don’t resist. We only need to ask you some questi-“ before she finishes he throws a flash bomb down and disappears. The two are left panting. “who was that”..
